Bacon Stuffed Burgers, Fresh Cut Fries & Brussels Sprouts

We are not huge meat eaters however, these burgers are a great treat every once and awhile. They are a nice spin on a traditional burger and so tasty. This dinner is definitely not for the healthy conscious {though I added in brussels sprouts ~ does that count?}

Bacon-Stuffed Burgers

~To print 4X6 recipe card click image below~

Ingredients Needed:4 Slices of Bacon
1/4 Cup of Chopped Onion
1 Can {4ounces} of Mushroom Pieces, drained and finely chopped
1 Pound of Lean Ground Beef
1 Pound of Bulk Pork Sausage
1/4 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
1/4 Teaspoon Garlic Powder
2 Tablespoons Steak Sauce
8 Hamburger Rolls
Condiments {optional}

In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and discard all but 2 tablespoons of drippings. Sauté onions in drippings until tender. Crumble in bacon and add the mushrooms {I buy a jar of sliced and leave them whole}; set aside.

Combine beef, pork, parmesan cheese, pepper, garlic powder and steak sauce in a large bowl. {take your rings off ~ it’s going to get messy} Mix well, bare hands optional but preferred. The recipe states to shape into 16 patties but I have a manly man and only make 10, which in the end leaves me with 5 huge burgers. Make sure you shape your patties thin as you will be doubling these up.

Divide the bacon mixture and place over half of the patties.

Place the remaining patties on top and press edges tightly to seal.
Grill over medium heat until well-done {note: pork sausage in burgers requires through cooking}. Serve on rolls with desired condiments. Yummy!
No burger is complete without fries. I make fresh cut and fry in canola oil until golden brown.
On a healthy note I add fresh brussels sprouts as a side. I prepare these by cutting an ‘x’ into the base of each sprout. This allows the heat to penetrate the core so that it cooks as quickly as the leaves. I use 1 cup of water for every cup of brussels sprouts. Bring the water to a rapid boil, add sprouts, return water to boil and cook until tender. Just about 7-10 minutes.
Enjoy!
