Not Your Typical Spring Wreath

It’s been awhile since I have had anything hanging on my poor front door. The weather has not helped me get the spring jitters I usually have by now…hopefully soon though. I did manage to pull together a few things I had to create a little something to ease my way into the sunshine!

I’m not sure why I never thought to use a basket before {I’m normally a wreath girl} but I really do like the look of this. The basket was old, beaten and battered, so I gave it a coat of brown spray paint, some crackle medium and a top coat of vanilla acrylic. The edges were sanded just a bit and a new rusty metal star was glued to the center.

The faux foliage was purchased from fall clearance last year. I know it does look a bit fall-ish but I really like the rustic feel it gives even for spring. {That and the fact that I always have issues decorating my red door with anything but neutral colors…I really do love a red door but the color is always throwing me off} I think the yellow is just enough to get me by until the sunshine comes.
Just a little tip to preserve your outside wreaths and arrangements from the elements: Clear Acrylic Spray. I use a light coat on everything I put outside. It really does help prolong the fresh look & fading from the sun and rain! Enjoy!

  6. I love the basket and flowers against your door, I may just have to imitate your idea. I still have my winter wreath out, but that must go – and soon!

I was wondering if you had ever tried bright pink and orange flowers with your red door. I bet orange and pink faux gerber daisies in that same basket would look amazing in the summertime.

  7. Absolutely beautiful….thanks for the tip too!
