Earth Day Tasty Treats {Cake, Cupcakes, & Krispie Treats}

Earth Day Tasty Treats {Cake, Cupcakes, & Krispie Treats}

With Earth Day right around the corner I thought I would make some tasty treats to Celebrate this special day.

~Earth Cake~

Make you favorite cake batter and divide. {I used a gluten free mix for my little guy} Tint equal amounts of batter green and blue. {Select brand Food Coloring is all natural, organic and gluten free; other gluten free brands that I know of are Spice Island and Durkee}

Scoop spoonfuls of each color batter into your pan. I used half of a Sports Ball Wilton pan for the globe shape, however you could easily use a round pan as well.

Continue adding spoonful scoops of batter alternating colors until your pan is 3/4’s full.

Bake as directed and like magic your own yummy Earth to enjoy!

I just love the colors!

And the shape of the pan makes it super cool!

The cupcakes were made using the same process

~Krispie Treat Pops~
You can use a regular Rice Krispie Treat recipe for these, however I had to make these allergy friendly for my little guy. I melted 3 tablespoons of Earth Balance Vegan butter on the stove top and added a bag of marshmallows, stirring constantly. Once completely melted I divided the mixture in half. To each batch add 1 1/2 cups of Enjoy Life Perky’s Crunchy Rice Cereal then green food coloring to one and blue to the other. {Select brand Food Coloring is all natural, organic and gluten free; other gluten free brands that I know of are Spice Island and Durkee} Mix well.

I used a Wilton Round Treat Pan for to mold these into pops. Once you have your colors mixed well take a little of each and press into the greased pan. {a little spray on your hands helps you to mold these and keeps your fingers from getting sticky!} Pop sticks are optional but helps keep those little hands from turning green and blue!

Chill in fridge for a 1/2 hour and your ready to enjoy!

Happy Earth Day ~ We appreciate you Mother Earth! Enjoy!

  47. Brilliant! I also cringe when I see something with food coloring in it. Thanks so much for listing some healthier alternatives! This looks like a future birthday cake for my daughter!

  48. Am going to try this out for my son’s birthday. So a simple butter cake recipe would suffice? Any way of scooping the batters to make sure they don’t fuse mix together? How do you ensure it’s cooked in the middle without being dry at the sides?

  49. How would you keep it from drying out? I would love to do something like this on my campus, but I’m worried they would dry out. Any suggestions?
