When I was ‘Adding a Touch of Green to the Dining Room’ I didn’t think twice about spray painting over a few glass containers that I had. {In fact, the large glass vase shown above was actually painted last fall}. Since mentioning it on that post I have received a few emails and comments regarding the how to’s and just wanted to share. It’s super duper easy, pretty plain and simple, and can dramatically change the look of any glass container.
I decided to make a plant stand today out of a metal candle stick and an old glass fruit parfait bowl. After washing and drying the glass completely, I attached the two using Gorilla Glue and left to set.

Gorilla glue and spray paint…oh the possibilities! Stephanie, wonderful job!
Looks great. Never would have thought it was spray painted, looking at the first picture!

That looks great! Thanks for the tips!
love,kelee
WOW! Awesome!
Beautiful! I love the finish.
This is great! I remember your vase post and that it was a great idea then. What I really like though is using the black as a base/primer coat and then using the Oil Rubbed Bronze on top of that. You are the second person I’ve read that mentions that and I definitely have to give that a try. Thanks for that tip!
Aren’t you the clever one. I rarely think out of the box on things like this. Thanks for sharing this idea.
How great!! Made a mental note of your tip. Thanks!
*hugs*deb
Glad to know that glass can be sprayed successfully. Thanks for sharing. Your planter turned out great!! Love it. Love & blessings from NC!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! My sister and I have wondered if painting glass works! I love the tip about the base coat…it makes so much sense! Thanks again for sharing!

Wow, that is quite amazing! I am going to have to see if we have that paint here in Australia. Your finished product looks fantastic.
Best wishes,
Natasha.
Love the idea. I have glued and sprayed everything in sight, I just havn’t painted glass. Great tutorial. Love it. Hugs, Marty

Wow! Looks great! Love that color.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I am still so impressed with your glass spray painted items. They look great! As a former pre-school teacher, I taught a few children who were autistic. They were all extremely bright children. Your son is precious and I know that you are a wonderful Mom to him. Love & blessings from NC!
Great job! I really like the results. I have been spray painting for the porch this afternoon too. Too bad we were not together, we could have a painting party!!
Love,
Susan and Bentley

Amazing, I never would have thought about spray painting glass!
Now I know what to do with those ubiquitous clear glass vases that come with florist bouquets! Your vase looks fantastic, I would never have known. Thanks!

Wow that turned out great. I didn’t know you could spray paint glass! Looks great!
Loved how it turned out! Be blessed. Cindy
I had no idea you could use regular spray paint on glass. I’m off to find a few test subjects around the house!
Great tips! The painted glass looks wonderful and I LOVE the idea of using the inexpensive paint as a prime coat and then spraying the top coat with the pricier stuff. Thanks,
Jane
Beautiful post thanks for sharing. You have a wonderful blog and I am a new follower. Hope you have a chance to come say hi at my blog. Cheers, Lia
Gorgeous! All the items you painted had great shapes.
Very creative and beautiful. I have painted glass in the past and learned the hard way that technique is very important. Thanks for the tips.
I love this! What a terrific idea- and look how wonderfully it turned out!
We have a Friday Fun Finds party- if you’re interested, we’d love it if you’d link to this!

I spray painted some glass a few months ago and have yet to post it. I probably should soon! Yours look amazing!!!
I didn’t know you could spray paint glass. This looks great!
I would love it if you joined my “Saturday is Crafty Day” party on April 24th! Stop by my blog for details.
I use the same spray paint technique :). Cheapo primer, then cheap black, and then the expensive stuff My problem is impatience between coats. Your vase looks beautiful!
Great technique. Thanks for sharing. I have never thought to use a fruit bowl on top of a candlestick. So going to the thrift store tomorrow!
That is so classy. I love the shape of the urn. I’m really surprised that the paint goes right on the glass and doesn’t just scrape off. Obviously it doesn’t. I also like the idea of using cheap paint, then the expensive stuff. Excellent tip. Glad you shared this on the Boardwalk! (I am always learning from you, girl)
Great project
I am really loving this new trend of spray painting glass…well not sure if it is new, however new to me:) It looks great!
Love the painted glass. Thanks for sharing.
Today is Thrift Store Wednesday for me, I sure hope I find a candle stick and parfait bowl…
I have been super hesitant to spray paint glass, but after this post I will give it a shot! Thanks for linking this up to Be Inspired too!
Chelsea
I’m definately going to try this…thanks for the simple directions!
Gorgeous. Spray painting with a less expensive base coat is a great idea! I can’t always find the ORB in stock so I will definitely use this tip on my next project.
Thanks again for linking up to Make it Yours Day!
This is a genius idea! I am adding this to my craft to-do file…as much as I spray paint, never thought to do so on glass! And love your base coat tips….will definitely try!
Beautiful! I use the same technique… cheap base coat (primer) and then use the more expensive as the top coat. Thanks for sharing at the POPP.
That looks really good!! I LOVE your craft room. That is my future vision for my basement when the teenagers move out.
That is adorable! I would love for you to come over and link up to check me out saturday http://www.iamonly1woman.blogspot.com
That is perfect together and painted! I’m always in search of unusual sticks and bowls to put together…you can never have 2 many footed bowls I say! Very clever and creative.

you were daring and it sure paid off. I love the new look of the glass. Thanks for sharing with all of us. I’m off to G-Will 2morrow 2 find something in glass that I can “play” with. Thanks again….Nan
That is so beautiful; I love the green of the ivy against the dark container!
Wonderful! It’s a shame I can’t find ORB spray at Home Depot anymore!

Love your project.
