Framed Mounted Bugs {For My Little Guys Bathroom}

Framed Mounted Bugs {For My Little Guys Bathroom}

If you’ve been following along you know I am a huge fan of inexpensive wall art. Most of the time, I know exactly what I am looking for but can not find it or it is way more than I was expecting to pay. I love putting my own things together; they are always the right size, perfect colors and usually end up coming in way below my expected budget. Remember the bugs? {I gave you a sneak peek framing my little guys bath mirror here} Well a few of them were mounted this afternoon. This post is not so much about the bugs {I’m not really sure how many of you would want colorful bugs on your walls} but simply thinking a little out side the box and getting crafty all while not compromising on style.

For these cute little framed bugs, I found a bag of plastic bugs at the dollar store and the frame in the unfinished wood section of the craft store {$1.00 for the bugs ~ $1.00 for the frame}.
The bugs were a little too bright for the space so I gave them a base coat of white spray paint so acrylic paints would adhere a bit better. The frame received a coat of red spray paint and was sanded to take the brightness way just a bit.
Using some acrylic paints, I painted each little critter to match the theme we have going. {which I’ll share a little more later}
Once dry, I attached directly to the cardboard that came inside the frame with some Gorilla Super Glue. {these particular frames did not come with a glass insert}
These are going to go so well with the other things I have planned for this space!The MIRRORMATE $100 Giveaway ends tonight!

I’ll be back tomorrow with some features and to announce the winner! Enjoy!

  14. Such a great idea. I am always coming up with an idea for decorating around my house only to find out that it cant be bought at a store. I am in the process of updating my sons bath as well and have decided to do it in a monster them. I know that Alex Moody has a monster collection but I am not too crazy about it. So I have been trying to creat my own “monster collection”. I look forward to seeing how your little mans bath comes out.
