Lawry's Review and a Giveaway

Along with warmer weather and outdoor activities comes outdoor cooking and grilling in our home. We tend to stick to grilling the same meats over and over. {I admit, I love grilling but do become quickly board as it seems we are eating the same thing over and over} I found an easy way to make meals more flavorful and exciting is simply using marinades. They can change the same old chicken into a completely new meal night after night.

LAWRY’S® signature marinades are made with real fruit juice—instant inspiration for meat, poultry, fish and vegetables. Simply pour it on and let marinate for 30 minutes. Then grill, bake, broil or sauté. It's that easy!

LAWRY’S® newest marinades allow you to infuse your meals with exotic flavors without ever leaving your home.

The Szechuan Sweet & Sour BBQ Marinade gives meat a delicious sweet and sour flavor with a touch of Szechuan heat. This authentic marinade features Chinese Five Spice blend, ginger, sesame oil and red pepper. {One of the hubby's favorite}

Inspired by the sun-drenched villages of Italy, The Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato Marinade features extra virgin olive oil, sun-dried tomatoes, sweet red bell peppers and the perfect blend of herbs such as rosemary and oregano. It creates the perfect marinade for chicken, pork or vegetables and is my favorite!

You can visit LAWRY’S® {here} to check-out the full line of products, additional grilling tips and to find delicious recipes for grilling season and beyond!

LAWRY’S® is offering one lucky follower the chance to try out their newest marinades with this exciting “Get Grilling Kit”. The kit includes both of the new Lawry’s marinades – Tuscan Sun-Dried Tomato and Szechuan Sweet & Sour BBQ – a set of skewers and a large pyrex marinating dish. The perfect start for the grilling season!

To enter simply leave a comment on this post telling me your favorite grilling tip.
The winner will be chosen by Random.org Monday night.

We have been working on a huge outdoor project to gear up our deck for the summer grilling season. It involves lots of wood and a few umbrellas ~ I can hardly wait to share the finished project! Enjoy!
This product, gift pack, information and give away were all given to me by Lawry's and myblogspark. Review is based solely on my opinion.

Grilling tip - a little butter and some brown sugar on sliced fresh pineapple, peaches, or plums - grill for a minute or so per side. Yum

My tip is to use olive oil in the pan or tinfoil when grilling vegetables. It helps keep them moist and from sticking!

My tip is to now turn the meat too often, makes it tough.

I prep and add marinades before freezing to save time... works well especially for hot and busy days.

Oh what a fun giveaway. My favorite grilling tip is use PAM's grilling spray on the grill so your food doesn't stick. That stuff works great!

We are definitely a Lawry's family over here! My favorite grilling tip is to cut up potatoes, onions and peppers and put them in some tinfoil with Lawry's salt and Pam sprinkled on top and grill away. It makes a perfect side dish for chicken or steak!

We add a little lemon/lime soda to marinades. I'm no Scientist...but I think the carbonation helps the marinade get in the meat. Anyway, it's yummy, and no...it doesn't make your chicken fizzy!

I love Lawrys seasoning salt, I am going to have to try the marinade too!

You know what else is good? Dale's. The sodium is off the charts, but it is So. Good. :)

Here is my tip..Use two ziploc bags when you marinate meat in the fridge or you run the risk of leaks. It is a total bummer when that happens I learned the hard way :)

My favorite grilling tip is to make my husband do it all! He feels very manly, cooking outdoors with fire and I get the night off :)

Don't ve touchy or flip happy with meat on the grill. Put it on, close door, and walk away. You gotta let your grill do its magic.

We like to grill corn on the cob. Peel back the husks and slather with butter softened with lime, then replace the husks and grill until the husks are slighly blackened. SO delicious.

Also, using marinades heavy in an acid (such as lemon juice or lime juice) will partially cook the very outer layer of the meat, which can make it easier to slice or dice. Just be sure the marinating happens in the fridge!

ArlaMo said...

If I make a big trip to Costco (or buy 1/4 of a cow for that matter!) I always freeze the meat with the marinade. Then, as it defrosts, it is already marinating.

Oooh! Great giveaway! I suggest grilling pizza! It is so good and you don't have to heat up your kitchen.

i am always looking for new marinades, b/c my cooking consists of the same few things! my boyfriend grills, but i cook stovetop and that still tastes great. we brought home a mango bbq marinade from hawaii, and it was great on chicken and porkchops. had real fruit pieces in it.

We just got our first grill - so I don't have any tips, yet!

My grilling tip - Do NOT smash hamburgers down when cooking them. It removes all the juices from them and you end up with hockey pucks. Also use tongs when grilling & flipping meats on the grill. A fork stabs the meat and you loose the juiciness of the meat.

Sarah A said...

My grilling tip: sprinkle cinnamon on apple slices, skewer them and grill (brush with melted butter if you dare)- delicious and nutritious (sans butter).

Susan Crabtree said...

my tip: let your husband do it! :)

Whitney & McKayla said...

Our grilling tip: When making your own patties for hamburgers, choose a meat with a slightly higher fat ratio (80/20), don't work the meat much and don't "pat" them together too tightly. NEVER squish {technical term} the burgers with the back of your spatula while they are cooking, they will be dry and tough every time if you do.

Great giveaway! My tip is to stay out of the way of the grill master!

My tip is to cook onions, mushrooms, and green peppers to eat along with your grilled meat. It's a great way to get in some veggies.

My favorite tip is to only turn your meat ONCE! Resist the urge to flip, flip, and flip. Cook the meat ont he first side until it completely releases easily from the grill grates and then flip it and cook it for about 1/2 the time you cooked it on the first side. Also, let the meat reast for 10 minutes before cutting into it. It will be moist and juicy every time. Yum!

The szechuan BBQ marinade looks delicious! Hope I win!!!

(ps...sorry if this is a duplicate post. I was having a hard time getting it to work)

What a YUMMY giveaway! I hope to win!!! I absolutely LOVE Lawry's products! My grill tip would be to cook up a few days worth of goods in one batch. I like to make fajaitas with steak/chicken...so for example when grilling up burgers, go ahead and make the other as well..that way you can cool it, cut it, and store it up for a few days down the road! Saves time and effort in heating up the grill! YUM!!

Best grilled potatoes ever:
Slice up several baking potatoes (skin on, washed well) and a vidalia onion and make a tinfoil packet. Before shutting the packet, slice up some butter over the top (or drizzle with olive oil for a lighter dish) and spinkle with salt and pepper, or Mrs. Dash, or your favorite seasoning! Put on the grill next to your meat, and flip once, after about 20 minutes. The potatoes get nice and cripy on the bottom, and the slices in the middle are soft and yummy. MMMMMMM! -Natasha

My tip is to put some olive oil on aluminum foil then rub it on the grill right before your meat. Makes it non-stick!

Once you put the chicken on, leave it alone until it's time to flip.

I love grilling salmon. Marinade with italian dressing. I start by wrapping it in foil and letting it steam, then near the end I turn the fire up hot and put it right on the grill for a nice sear. Mouthwatering!!!

Grilling tip ~ If you grow fresh Rosemary, once you strip the leaves, toss the stems into your grill. they will add a smokey rosemary taste to your food. Also use the stems as skewers for shish ka bobs!

we had cookout at a friend's recently and she had the BEST sidedish that you might want to try. Boil corn on the cob. When near done...remove from boiling water and place on a square of aluminum foil. Add olive oil, parmesean cheese, cayenne pepper, italian seasoning. wrap up in the foil and place on grill as your meat is cooking to seal in the seasonings. It was AMAZING!

I actually have some meat marinating in the Lawry's Hawaiian marinade right now! My tip: learn to love the alumimum foil & paper plates when grilling; nothing puts a damper on a great evening of grilling like a bunch of dishes and pans to clean up. :)

We love to marinate our meat, my grilling tip is to use a Ziploc bag to marinate your meat in. I love how it helps coat all the pieces of meat really easily!!

Just say Pyrex and I am here. I love that thing already!

My favorite grilling tip is have your significant other do the grilling while you relax with your feet up.. just kidding!

I pound the chicken flat, it soaks up the marinade faster. Set it in a ziplock for an hour, add some marinade and you are good. Don't have marinade? How about some EVOO and seasoning salt? Works great!

I am new to grilling, this summer has been my first experience. The best tip I have learned is to make sure your meat is the same thickness all around. If you are grilling chicken breast, use a malet to pound the thicker side down so that it will grill evenly and not cause parts of it to be over cooked. Do not flip your meat over and over. Let it cook till you see that it has cooked at least half way through and then flip it to the other side. Do not over cook the meat it will be dry. Cook just long enough for it to be cooked through and remove, thus leaving in all the moist juicy flavor. I love the tips left by the others. I have written many of them down to give them a try. I hope I am the winner...I would love to have the Lawry's prize.

When making hamburgers with hamburger meat press the middle of the patty so the outside rim is taller than the center. This keeps your burger from swelling up in the middle and gives it the perfect hamburger shape.

My grilling tip is to let the hubby handle all the grilling! I stay inside and work on dessert while he mans the grill:)

My best tip--do ahead marinades. I buy a bulk package of chicken breasts at Sams. $2 a pound. I mix up several marinades and dump everything into dinner portioned freezer bags. I lay them flat in the the freezer so they will thaw quickly. On the day we want to grill them, I remove them from the freezer, let them thaw and marinate at the same time. No mixing that day, just ready for the grill by dinner. A no brainer! With so many flavored marinades, no boring dinners either.

My favorite grilling tip is to let your husband always do the grilling - I do the inside cooking and he does the outside cooking! :-) In all seriousness, though, the one thing I have learned is to sear my meat on high first, which seals in the juices and makes for a juicier, more tender steak or Tri-Tip!
