Crushed Shell Star Ornament {No.4}

Crushed Shell Star Ornament {No.4}

Crushed Shell Star Ornament
{Ornament Number Four}Materials Needed:Wooden Cut Out Shape
Crushed Shells {or Dyed Rice}
Ribbon

Start with a wooden cut out shape. These can be found at your local craft store for about 25 cents a piece and come in a variety of designs. Using a hand drill, drill a small hole in the top to easily hang.

Working in small sections at a time, coat the wooden shape with Gorilla Super Glue and sprinkle on a good amount of crushed shells, pressing down firmly with your fingertips. Let sit for 60 seconds and shake the access shells off, repeating until the entire shape is covered. {Make sure not to cover the drilled hole} I found the bag of crushed shells at Wal-Mart in the floral department; they ran about $3 for a fairly large bag.

Another option is to use dyed rice to cover the ornaments. I shared some tips for dyeing rice using food coloring {here}.

For the hanger, cut a piece of ribbon and thread through the drilled hole.

All of the ornament tutorials featured are very basic and allow you to create them to your own personal taste and style ~ be creative and have fun! Enjoy!
