Sausage Cheese Ball Appetizers {GF}, a Betty Crocker Baker’s Challenge & Gluten Free Prize Pack Giveaway!

Sausage Cheese Ball Appetizers {GF}, a Betty Crocker Baker’s Challenge & Gluten Free Prize Pack Giveaway!

I have a few gluten free goodies to share so I thought I would pack them all into one awesome post…

There is a delicious {so incredibly delicious I could not even tell it was GF} appetizer recipe, some pretty cool contest details for all the GF connoisseurs in the kitchen and a fabulous GF giveaway to kick-start every ones weekend!

First Up: Hold the gluten, grab your apron and start your ovens! My good friends over at Betty Crocker is hosting their first-ever gluten-free recipe contest;
The Baker’s Challenge Gluten Free Recipe Contest

This contest encourages bakers to use any Betty Crocker® Gluten Free dessert mix (Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix, Yellow Cake Mix, Devil’s Food Cake Mix or Brownie Mix) or Bisquick® Gluten Free baking mix to create a gluten-free, holiday-themed appetizer, bread or dessert recipe.

The original entirely gluten-free recipe can be submitted online {here} from now until June 30, 2011.

Ten finalist will be selected and awarded a Betty Crocker® Gluten Free Baking gift basket valued over $100 and even more exciting, finalists’ recipes will be featured on Gluten Freely and voted on by the Gluten Freely community. The Grand Prize Winner will ultimately be awarded a check for Five Thousand Dollars!

Cooking GF definitely has it’s challenges and if you have mastered it – this is your time to shine and share how you creatively made your classic favorites work for a gluten-free holiday celebration or created new traditions of your own!

Next, you all know how big of a fan I am of the Gluten Freely site as I have mention them quite a few times; great tips, ideas, and suggestions on living a gluten free lifestyle not to mention the fantastic recipes {and we all know how hard it is to come by a good GF recipe}. I was so excited when I shared Mini Mac-and-Cheese Cakes a few weeks ago and I have to say this recipe is no different. These Sausage Cheese Ball Appetizers are so good I would serve them at any party {and I bet my non-gluten free friends would not be able to even tell a difference}.

Gluten Free Sausage Cheese Balls
by Gluten Freely – recipe can be printed {here}
3/4 cup of Bisquick® Gluten Free Mix
4 ounces of Bulk Pork Sausage
1 1/2 cups of Shredded Cheddar Cheese (6 ounces)
1/4 cup of Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/4 teaspoon of Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon of Dried Rosemary Leaves, crushed
1/8 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
1/2 cup of Milk
2 tablespoons of Chopped Fresh Parsley

Heat oven to 350ºF and coat a baking pan with cooking spray. In large bowl, mix all of the ingredients listed above together.

Shape mixture into balls and place in the pan. I used a cookie scoop to help shape mine so they were a little larger than 1 inch balls.

The recipe for 1 inch balls says to bake uncovered 22 to 26 minutes or until light golden brown – I baked mine for about 40 minutes.

Immediately remove from pan and serve
