Barn Owl Primitives is a super fun Etsy shop where unique custom signs and primitive designs come to nest.


Every sign offered is hand painted and designed by Kristi, the incredibly talented owner of 'the barn'. {real hand painted wood ~ no vinyl}


Kristi is a mom to two beautiful, energetic and charismatic young kids and a wife to one husband... {because, let's be honest, one is quite enough!!} ;) She is a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a neighbor and a friend ~ And when the rest of her world goes to sleep, She is a painter!!


Barn Owl Primitives came to life when Kristi wanted a wooden snowman for her front door. Kristi made one for herself and many for gifts, and had no idea that it would snowball into the business it has become today!


There is no doubt Kristi has a fond love for letters - in her own words - "I LOVE letters. Maybe it's because I taught elementary school. Or, maybe it's because I haven't seen my refrigerator door in four + years because of all those little, colorful magnets. Or, maybe it's because I have a lot to say (but my family gets tired of listening to me talk all the time). For whatever the reason, I LOVE letters. So, I started my typography signs as a way of getting all those letters out of my system. I enjoy laying out the letters, creating a picture, and telling a story."


Creating "new" things from old things and making new things look "old"...
