This Thanksgiving was a treat for me as I was contacted my the fine folks at Shabby Apple to select a dress of my choice for the holidays.

With over eighteen current fashion lines including essential dresses, flirty dresses, and sophisticated dresses, Shabby Apple carries a fantastic selection dresses each with their own look, feel and design {and something that fits each and every personal style}.

After pondering over a few dress choices, I choose Spanish Steps – a cream flowered applique dress. Typically I have a hard time picturing what a dress online will appear like in person, however this dress exceeded all expectations.

The first thing that caught my eye were the ruched flowers and leaves embellishing the skirt. I love the texture of the ruffles {which is a bit trendy right now} and the sheen of the sateen material used against the matte satin skirt – a bit formal and fun at the same time.

The wide sateen sash gathers at the waist, accentuating the good parts, as the full skirt drops down right above the knee.

Even though the dress is described as a comfortable-yet-elegant summer frock, the butternut brown and cream color combination just whispered fall to me. I have olive toned skin and the unique color of the top pairs really well – as it was the only thing that I was a little hesitant about when looking at the online pictures.

Since I am usually running around the kitchen and a little crazed with the final dinner preparations, the cap sleeves are perfect.

The top is actually made from soft cotton jersey knit so it is extremely comfortable and a little unexpected paired with the satin. As with all of the Shabby Apple dresses – I think what sets them apart from the rest is the delicate details that makes each dress fit to flatter all body types. For instance the added darts in the bodice of this dress slim the lower waist and flatter all of the right spots.

The only thing I wish I would have paid attention to was the generous sizing noted on the site – I felt a little uncomfortable ordering a smaller size than what I typically wear so I didn’t. While the dress could be a little more snug the style and material of this particular dress make it completely fine. I find it hard to order clothing online so I just wanted to note that for anyone that has not ordered from their sizing charts.
Thank you Shabby Apple for dressing me this Thanksgiving Day! I can’t wait to wear my new outfit tomorrow – and yes I have it all laid out and ready to go just like my mom would have done years ago.

Happy Thanksgiving Stephanie! And…you MUST post a picture of yourself wearing this lovely dress! Not too long ago I started doing WIW post, however, I still am not totally comfortable in front of the camera. Yet, I “force” myself to do it in hopes of becoming more at ease one day. Also, thanks for always hosting a great party on Sunday. I look forward to it all week long. I came accross your blog years ago and it is a HUGE inspiration behind my blogging. Take care and enjoy Thanksgiving with your family. BTW, {I too lay out my childrens matching clothes}
