The Good Mood Board {Living Room Edition}

Today I’m thrilled to be back participating in the
The Good Mood Board Series
organized by Cassity from Remodelaholic

Cassity has put together a group of eleven different bloggers to give you all a glimpse into our own personal styles through mood boards we each have created. The goal of the series is to provide inspiration to get your creative juices flowing and for all of us to gain a better understanding of what we love, and seek, for those things.
The last Good Mood Board topic focused on Master Bedrooms and if you happen to miss that round you can check it out here.

This month our assignment was living room design. I took the opportunity to create a board for my parents living room. A majority of their time is spent at their beach home so when they return to this residence it is normally during the colder months of the year. The floor to ceiling stone fireplace in their two story living room was the inspiration behind creating an earthy toned rustic feel in the space. What once was considered to be country, cabin or lodge themed has now taken on a new meaning in today’s decor. To me rustic decor adds texture, warmth, and charm to any space.

As with the Master Bedroom Inspiration Board, this board was put together without a budget in mind. Pieces were chosen right from web to reflect personality and living style without even taking a peek at the price tags- though that is what is so wonderful about mood boards. Once the board is put together with selected pieces you have in mind – an instant shopping list of items to be on the lookout for is created. {think sales and thrift store finds} Many of the pieces also spark some ideas and starting points for do-it-yourself projects.

My mom likes change as much as I do {as the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree} so I choose neutral colors for the key {big ticket} items in the room. The neutral colors simply create a blank canvas for accent colors, as just about any combination can be used to instantly update the look of the space – without costing a fortune. A few new pillows and some coordinating ornamentation and your set.

I made my boards using Olioboard and if you have not had a chance to check out this free site – I highly suggest to go play around. It is a lot of fun seeing your ideas visually come together for a space you may be planning – or you could even upload the current items you have in a room and play around with with some new editions.

For a closer look at all the pieces I used in today’s boards you can check out my Olioboard for direct links.

I hope you’ll stop by and check out the rest of the inspiring boards created today
