Gift Giving {for less} with Better Homes and Gardens & Walmart {last minute gift ideas}

Good morning! I hope everyone is enjoying the handmade holiday ornaments that have been shared so far. As we are at the half way point I thought I would take a little time and share some last minute gift giving ideas {for less}!

Better Homes and Gardens recently reached out, in celebration of their Holiday Collections at Walmart, to take part in a gift-giving (for less) challenge! I had so much fun in the fall with their guest room ready promotion, I was thrilled to accept this new challenge for the upcoming season.

With so many people I like to thank with a small token of appreciation this time of year, the $5, $10, and $25 price points that were given were perfect to pull together a few gift options.
If you’re like me and like to have a few extra things on hand {to use as hostess gifts or for that unexpected visitor that may happen to pop in} these are all easy and quick ideas that can picked up during your next shopping trip.

At the $5.00 price point I found a Better Homes and Gardens Cedar Bird Feeder. The Dinette version costs just $5.97 and the Eastern Red Cedar Wood smells amazing.

I always like to put a little thought into gifts add some homemade touches to gifts to make them less generic – so I made a few homemade birdseed cakes {tutorial found here} and bottled the left over bird seed in a recycled glass jar. A small bag of bird seed can be picked up right at your local Walmart for just under $2.00.

At the $10.00 price point I picked up a Better Homes and Gardens Mistletoe Serving Bowl. The serving bowl costs just $9.96 and is quite large, measuring 10 inches in diameter.

The cute mistletoe pattern is festive and perfect for the holidays and I love how the design carries over the rim of the bowl. Walmart actually carries an entire line of this Better Homes and Gardens Dinner and Serving-ware including place settings, cake stands, platters and much more.

I really like the versatility of this large bowl as it can be filled with a variety of inexpensive items if you are looking to personalize the gift a little more. It can be filled with homemade baked goods {have you checked out the 100 different holiday cookie ideashere} or candy – and it would make a nice container to hold a couple jars filled with homemade hot cocoa mix and homemade marshmallows {these are really inexpensive to mix up and are great to make in bulk – the recipes can be found here}

The bowl itself makes a great gift but adding something a little extra makes it that more special – and it doesn’t even have to cost that much. How about a potted plant, stationary, or make a paperwhite growing kit. {You can pick up a bag of bulk paperwhite bulbs for under $5.00 – the homemade kit instructions and printables can be found here}.

For the $25.00 price point I was able to put together a basket full of candle goodies. Walmart carries a wide selection of Better Homes and Gardens Candles at reasonable prices and everything in this entire basket costs just $25.75.

This time of year Better Homes and Gardens puts out a nice selection of fabulous holiday scents but I stuck with one of my favorites, Lemongrass Verbena. I am usually a warm and cozy scents kind of girl but there is something about the mix of leafy green verbena and crisp citrus lemongrass that is so refreshing, calm, and clean.

The products included in this gift basket can be found right on the shelves at your local Walmart or online at Walmart.com {and if you don’t want to fight the crowds many of Walmart’s online items can be shipped right to your local store and picked up for free}

These are the items I picked for the gift basket:
Better Homes and Gardens 17 oz Glass Jar Candle ~ $6.00
Better Homes and Gardens 6 Inch Pillar ~ $5.00
Better Homes and Gardens 4 Inch Pillar ~ $3.50

Better Homes and Gardens Glass Footed Votive Holder ~ $4.50
Better Homes and Gardens 12 Pack Tea Lights ~ $2.75

I also added in a couple packs of the Better Homes and Gardens Wax Cubes. These of course would only work if the recipient already has a wax warmer {though if they did not Better Homes and Gardens has a great selection of wax warmers as well all around $15 which would also make a nice gift}. Along with the regular stocked scents, my local Walmart has a huge selection of scents especially for the holidays.

Better Homes and Gardens Sparkling Berry Garland Wax Cubes ~ $2.00
Better Homes and Gardens Snowy Evergreen Forest Wax Cubes ~ $2.00

I also picked up this Better Homes and Gardens Wire Serving Basket to tuck all my goodies inside. I didn’t count this in my $25 budget, though it was just $5.80 at my local Walmart. I really like the look of the black metal wire and it not only serves as the gift packaging but can be used for a number of things once received.
