Four Simple and Savory Bread Recipes: to make in a bread machine or by hand

For the past couple of weeks I have been overindulging on daily loaves of fresh warm bread. It is one of my real weaknesses. I can’t take credit for the baking, or even the preparation though,
as my bread machine has done 98% of the work – all I have done is simply
tossed in the ingredients and pressed the button.
We have had our bread machine for several years and it has been producing
flawless loaves since day one – effortlessly.
If you do not have a machine these recipes can easily be made by hand as well.

Just dissolve the yeast in the liquid – add in the other wet ingredients – add the flour and other dry ingredients – knead and place in a bowl to rise then transfer to a baking pan and let rise again – bake in a 350° preheated oven for about 30 minutes.
Note: I suggest adding the ingredients to the bread machine pan in the order that is recommended by your machine’s manufacturer. I always add the water {fairly hot}, salt and other wet ingredients first, followed by the flour and remaining dry ingredients, then the yeast on top. The key thing to remember is to keep the yeast away from the liquids and salt until the bread has actually started to mix – this is especially important if you have delayed the start of your machine.

  1. Those look delicious, would you mind sharing what brand and model of bread maker you have.

    • Hi Julie – I have a Breadman Plus Bread Machine. We have had it for several years and they have changed the models around since then – but our model number is TR660. Just in case you wanted to compare it to the models that they sell now – the one I have is a 2 lb. ‘plus’ version with 18 preprogrammed baking functions including rapid bake.

  2. Yes, I would like to know also. Thanks so much!

  3. Thank you so much for these recipes … I’m always looking for something different to make.

  4. I bake all our bread and rolls all the time, and I’d love to try these recipes! I can’t make the one with poppy seeds, though, because Hubby works for the gov’t. and has to have random drug tests. Poppy seeds show up as narcotic use on them. But savory cheese, here I come! Thank you for sharing these; they all look wonderful!

  5. Would regular quick acting yeast in a packet work as well?

  6. Lucky you I am coeliac and as such on a gluten free diet. I find it nearly impossible to bake decent bread on my bread machine. Its so hard to get plain gluten-free flour which the recipes call for any thoughts on that?
    Thank you

  7. Perfect and delicious looking breads. Thanks Stephanie for sharing!

  8. Pinning these. I use my bread machine all the time, especially for pizza dough, but my bread recipes could use a little something new.

    Bliss

  9. Glad that you’ve been enjoying homemade bread. I make all our bread here–I enjoy whole wheat, and my hubby loves sourdough. Your recipes look wonderful!

  10. Thank you for the recipes! I adore using my bread machine and have been looking for some savory recipes, I googled and found your blog!

  11. This looks just beautiful, thanks for the inspiration!
