Succulent Wall Planter | How to Build a Vertical Garden

Succulent Wall Planter | How to Build a Vertical Garden

This post brought to you by Miracle-Gro. All opinions are 100% mine. Once the weather breaks I can not wait to get my hands in the dirt. While I'm inspired and intrigued by any living plant I can tuck in and around our garden - I am always looking for simple ways to incorporate them elsewhere outdoors. Today I'm working on our deck and put together this succulent wall planter to bring some green life to the space. Garden succulents are one of my favorite perennials and while there are a few that are finicky - there are many that are Continue reading

Red Oak Trees | Earth Day Plantings

Red Oak Trees | Earth Day Plantings

Happy Friday my friends. I long for sunny warm weekends in the spring and the next couple days are looking pretty good. I may even attempt to start freshening up the deck tomorrow.  The past couple of weeks we have been working on getting the garden beds together and in honor of Earth Day we decided to add two red oak trees to the yard. We picked red oak trees because they are said to be fast growers and fairly tolerant of different soil variations. Plus they turn beautiful vibrant colors in the fall... ...from yellow-brown to bright Continue reading

Frozen Coffee Granita Recipe | Made quick and easy with the Keurig

Frozen Coffee Granita Recipe | Made quick and easy with the Keurig

While we have been enjoying our new Keurig OfficePro for hot brewed beverages – as the weather gets warmer, we like to take our coffee and turn it into a nice cold icy dessert. This frozen coffee granita recipe is one of our favorites and incredibly easy to put together. While the convenience of the Keurig cuts the coffee prep time down to less than two minutes, this recipe can be made with any strong black coffee, brewed to your liking. I personally use two Emeril's Big Easy Bold k-cups - each brewed to an 8 ounce cup setting. This Continue reading

Our New Keurig OfficePro Premier Single Cup Brewing System

Our New Keurig OfficePro Premier Single Cup Brewing System

I had completely given up trying to brewing coffee at home, until we discovered Keurig a little over a month ago. Yes, I know we are little late to the game - but now I totally understand the hype my mom and sister, both, have award this machine the past couple of years. See, I like my hazelnut and vanilla concoctions and Butch, well ... not so much. This new Keurig OfficePro Premier allows us both to brew our own cup of coffee - exactly how we both like it - in just minutes. No waiting, no cleaning, and most importantly no traces of unwanted Continue reading

Banana Muffin Recipe | Perfect way to use up ripened bananas

Banana Muffin Recipe | Perfect way to use up ripened bananas

Bananas are always hit or miss around here. I can buy them and they can be gone in a few days - while other times they just sit. When they sit and actually start to turn brown this banana muffin recipe sure does come in handy - as the riper the bananas, the more flavorful these little mini muffins can be. Not sure if it is the touch of vanilla or the baked on cinnamon & sugar topping - but this recipe always makes those bananas seem a bit more appealing. Plus other than the sour cream - the remainder of the ingredients are Continue reading

How to Make a No Sew Fixed Roman Shade with Valance

How to Make a No Sew Fixed Roman Shade with Valance

Fixed Roman Shade ~ I have been pondering window treatments for CJ's sensory playroom before we even had the foam flooring installed. Since our little guy deals with light sensitivity issues we put up some blackout shades early on - and since they have done their job so well - the actual treatments, of course, were long forgotten about and moved to the back burner. While I really liked the function of the blackout shades, the look has always just seemed unfinished to me. It could have been the white walls - the exposed window frames - or Continue reading
