Indoor Sensory Playroom Update {Flooring & Furniture}

Indoor Sensory Playroom Update {Flooring & Furniture}

I am finally making some progress on the Indoor Sensory Playroom for my little guy. I was not in a big rush to move forward once I found out the furniture and equipment we ordered was coming from France {?} and need to be manufactured. Much to my surprise I received a shipping confirmation a few weeks later stating part of the order was on its way; which resulted in the room being bumped up on the to-do list and flooring was the first priority. Here is a poor before shot of the room we are using. It has since been painted and stenciled Continue reading

Funky Wheel Stenciled Wall {The Start of a New Room}

Funky Wheel Stenciled Wall {The Start of a New Room}

I've pretty much hit a decorating plateau in my little guys bath as I am waiting on some supplies to arrive before I can finish. I thought it would be a perfect time to get a jump start on the next room on my list; another playroom for my little guy. Unlike the playroom I recently finished in March, this room will be more of an indoor sensory playground. I am so excited to start on this project and can hardly wait to see everything come together! Plus I get to share all the details each step of the way this time around!So I bring you phase one Continue reading

End of Cabinet Communication / Message Board {PECS}

End of Cabinet Communication / Message Board {PECS}

This project has been on my to-do list for quite sometime...and after finally getting around to completing it, I have no idea why I waited so long. It was incredibly easy to do and even though mine was made for a very specific reason, this idea can easily be used for a family communication/message center or even a simple chore chart system for your kiddies. As many of you may already know, my little guy has autism and communication is very challenging for him. He can label several different objects but does not fluently talk and when it comes Continue reading

A Solution to Our Towel Bar Problem

A Solution to Our Towel Bar Problem

I'm back in my little guys bath trying to pull things together as it is still a work in progress. I needed a towel bar that could hold up to rough and tough tugging little hands. We have a wall along side the tub that seemed to be the perfect spot, until we discovered the placement of the studs. From experience, I do not put a whole lot of trust into the plastic wall anchors for items that will be yanked and pulled daily. This quick little solution works perfectly, plus it added a little shelf for more decor! We began with 1/2 inch thick Continue reading

I’ve Started My Little Guys Bathroom! {Part One – Framing the Mirror}

I’ve Started My Little Guys Bathroom! {Part One – Framing the Mirror}

I'm so excited! I have finally ventured upstairs and start decorating my little guys bath. I decided to have a little fun with this one and go all out on a whimsical theme perfectly fit for my outdoor boy. I have been collecting things here and there over the past year and can not wait to put them all together. Here is quick snapshot of the bath taken from our walkthrough. {I really hate posting before shots..yuck!} Of course before the fun of decorating some major things had to be done. We decided to keep the tile {I am just not up for a Continue reading

Everyone Said Don’t Do It, But I Painted Wallpaper Anyway ~ Our Powder Room

Everyone Said Don’t Do It, But I Painted Wallpaper Anyway ~ Our Powder Room

It's a touchy subject - Should you do it or not! I took the plunge and I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.... This is what our powder room looked liked when we moved in. After a few months of bearing it, I broke down and could no longer handle being strangled by the paisley flowered print in such a tiny space any longer. My first thought, tear it off, I want it gone! How hard could it be? I turned to my trusty friend Google, seriously how could he let me down...well he did. Every story I read seamed like a horror story not to mention a long Continue reading
