Flower Pot Wind Chimes | how to make a terra cotta pot wind chime #michaelsmakers #craftinstyle - The end of June is near and we have already started checking some activities off of our Summer Fun List for the year. As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, we were pretty excited anticipating the return of this year's Passport to Imagination Classes . Michaels offers these in-store crafting sessions Continue reading

Turn a Recycled Water Bottle into a Game Day Noise Maker {Super Bowl Party Craft}

There is just six more days left to kickoff and even though our team did not make it to the Super Bowl this year, we will most likely be tuned in next Sunday anyway. {or at least I will be checking it out during the opening ceremony, half time, and of course the commercials} To add some excitement to game day for my little guy, I decided to put together a super easy noisemaker that actually combines a couple of projects I have posted in the past. These can be put together in no time {costing next to nothing using recycled water bottles} and Continue reading

Patriotic Flag Swag Bunting {No-Sew}

Fourth of July CraftsI'm a little passionate about the Red, White, and Blue...I ♥ the USA. I have wanted flag swag buntings forever. The problem ~ I didn't want just one...I wanted like 10 {and at $20+ a piece they have never seemed to make it into my budget} With our deck finally completed, I knew I had to find a way to drape these beauties across the back for an upcoming party! No Sew, Inexpensive Fabrics, and about 20 minutes makes these cuties as simple as can be. Begin with three pieces of fabric; any shade of red, white and Continue reading

Painted Cabana Striped Pillows {Incredibly Easy ~ No Sew}

Painted Cabana Striped Pillows {Incredibly Easy ~ No Sew}

I've been eyeing up a few pillows for my front porch rocker ever since the warm weather decided to appear and stick around. I've seen many that I have loved but I can't seem to see spending anywhere from $30-$90 for a set of three pillows, especially when they most likely will need to be replaced again next year. I decided to nail down a few designs that I liked and make my own. I have to say that these have to be the easiest pillows I have ever made {not to mention the most inexpensive}. No Sew Cabana Striped Pillows Materials Continue reading

American Flag Spindle Post

American Flag Spindle Post

I have really wanted a flag spindle post for quite sometime and finally remembered to pick up the materials the other day during my trip to the hardware store. It screams 'All American' and I just completely adore that! You can put this together in under an hour from start to finish {simply using a hand drill & saw} and it costs just under $12 including the flags. Since I will be using my post outside I used pressure treated wood. The post is actually a deck post. They come in several different styles and can run anywhere from $6 to Continue reading

Tin Can Flag Windsock {for the kiddies}

Tin Can Flag Windsock {for the kiddies}

I thought we would celebrate Flag Day today with an easy project that my adorable craft assistant could help me with. I love adding accessories to the garden and this time of year anything that has to do with the American Flag is even better! Re-using tin cans and left over craft materials make this an inexpensive fun project to share with your little ones!We began with a clean empty tin can with both ends removed. Our can was a little larger measuring 4 inches in diameter. Using navy acrylic paint my little guy went to town painting.Once Continue reading

Painted American Wooden Flag

Painted American Wooden Flag

Here is another gem that I have been eyeing up in one of my favorite catalogs for quite sometime. When I first saw this oversized flag the first thing that came to mind was good old fashion American cookouts and summertime deck parties. The list price on this beautiful piece of work is $129 and I was able to create this look-a-like version for just under $7.00. I started by having a piece of plywood cut at my local Home Depot. They can make the cuts for your right there in the store which makes it so easy. The finished dimensions of the Continue reading
