Vinyl Dressed Lanterns {monogrammed, spooky or plain customized fun}

Vinyl Dressed Lanterns {monogrammed, spooky or plain customized fun}

I have to start off by stating my deep love for outdoor lanterns. After seeing catalog after catalog adorned with porches full of lanterns...I've been hooked and simply can not get enough of them. I stumbled across these great outdoor lanterns at Ikea last year at an amazing price considering the sizes. They are called Borrby and run $14.99 for the large {height: 17 ¼ inches} and $7.99 for the small {height: 11 inches}. They still carry them and I admit I can not go there without leaving the store with another to add to my collection.I actually Continue reading

Mod Podge Halloween Sign

Mod Podge Halloween Sign

Yesterday I posted plans on how to make your own Halloween Candy Stand {found here} and here is a simple tutorial for the creating sign. I admit I am fairly new to the Mod Podge Craze. {I know, right} One of the main reasons being I really did not know just how to use it and thought it was complicated. {I had a little conception that it was super messy too} I can tell you now that it is quickly becoming a craft necessity! I mod podged the pumpkins shown above a few weeks ago {found here} and couldn't wait to break it out and use it Continue reading

Halloween Pumpkin Trick or Treat Candy Stand {plant holder}

Halloween Pumpkin Trick or Treat Candy Stand {plant holder}

When you have little ones and you’re out fulfilling your trick or treating duties, who is left home to hand out the candy? With some lumber, a metal tub and a few screws you can create this handy Candy Stand to adorn your doorstep to do the job! Begin with 5/4 x 6 inch boards measured and cut 22 inches long {you will need four}. I used left over pressure treated deck board scraps I already had, however if you will only be leaving your stand outdoors Halloween night regular lumber will do. The four boards fit together {as shown above} will Continue reading

Mod Podge Custom Faux Pumpkins {Easy Fall Decor}

Mod Podge Custom Faux Pumpkins {Easy Fall Decor}

I have wanted to make a set of pumpkins that 'spelled out' a phrase for awhile. The thought of painting individual letters, or handwriting them, is not really one of my specialties; however, with a little scrapbook paper and some Mod Podge, customizing little faux pumpkins to your liking is a cinch! I could only find bright orange {really faux looking} pumpkins in the size that I wanted, but a combination of white and antique white spray paint fixed that. The stems were simply hand painted with Americana Acrylic in traditional burnt umber by Continue reading

Mouse Motel Faux Pumpkin {Martha Stewart Inspired}

Mouse Motel Faux Pumpkin {Martha Stewart Inspired}

I have always thought this pumpkin was ...well...cute {?} though if I ever saw real mice living inside my pumpkins I would scream and screech like a little girl. This idea originally appeared in the October 2008 issue of Martha Stewart Living where they used a real pumpkin to house the little critters. I thought I would change this fun idea just a bit and use a faux pumpkin for my little guy to enjoy year after year. I started with a faux pumpkin and a flat wood boring bit. Even though this bit is intended for wood, it worked quite well on Continue reading

Creepy Crow’s Nest Halloween Wreath

Creepy Crow’s Nest Halloween Wreath

I'm really not a huge decorator for Halloween; I like to decorate more for fall in general which usually carries me through to Thanksgiving. {It’s like getting two for one} I do have one little nook this year that I am dedicating to Halloween though; spooky & creepy...in a good sort of way. I started by taking apart the poor wreath {here} that has been on my front door all summer long {yes, since April}. The center of the wreath was a dollar store foam form simply covered with reindeer moss {hot glued on}. The hot sun definitely took its Continue reading

Silhouette Giveaway Project No.5 {Halloween Transfer T-Shirt}

Silhouette Giveaway Project No.5 {Halloween Transfer T-Shirt}

I really like buying my little guy graphic tees for each holiday. Even though they are usually worn one day and packed away... they are still a little extra fun way to celebrate. I usually have a hard time finding ones that aren't too busy or fit my plain and simple taste. Well thanks to the Silhouette I don't think I'll have any more problems. With just a few clicks of a button I can now design my own shirts {or customize them to my little guys liking when he gets a little older} at a fraction of the cost! For this holiday shirt I used the Continue reading
