Make Your Own Vera Bradley Pattern Pendants from Upcycled Catalogs {Guest Post featuring A Revived Life}

I am inspired by so many projects each and every day, but this one just makes me so giddy I can hardly contain myself. I am a huge fan of Vera Bradley and get excited when the catalog arrives each season showing off the latest and greatest new patterns. Though some will disagree, I personally adore the quilted patterns {each and every one of them}. Well my brilliant friend Heather, from A Revived Life, adores them too and came up with a fabulous way to upcycle her catalogs to make Vera Bradley Patterned Pendants. {a girl after my own heart}I'm Continue reading

Cut Your Own Martha Stewart Paper Mice Stair Decorations {using the Silhouette}

Cut Your Own Martha Stewart Paper Mice Stair Decorations {using the Silhouette}

Martha Stewart's creepy paper mice are nothing new to the Halloween decor scene. I have wanted them for the past couple years, as I thought my little guy would get a kick out of them, plus seeing Sarah's stairs last year made me want them even more. However, by the time I would normally get around to picking them up - they were always sold out. Even though they are just under $6 in the stores, they are also available as a free template on the Martha Stewart site - to cut by hand. I used the template to cut them out with my Silhouette and Continue reading

Cupcake Liner Baking Cup Garland

The texture of the crumbled cupcake liners, the rustic hue of the natural unbleached paper, the vintage inspired fabric, lace and tulle...what is not to adore.... I finally put my cupcake liners to use - a little garland to dress up my new chalkboard wall in the kitchen. The natural cupcake liners are from If You Care Products - {I found mine at Whole Foods and you can also find them online at Amazon} The fabric, tulle, and lace were just picked from scraps and cut with pinking shears. So incredibly easy to make... and I just Continue reading

Easter Carrot Treat Boxes {with free printable} and a Silhouette Special

Easter Carrot Treat Boxes {with free printable} and a Silhouette Special

This year there will be a total of 10 kiddies joining us to celebrate the holiday ~ so much fun! Since I prefer not to leave candy sitting out, due to my son allergies, I made these cute 'carrot' boxes to hopefully contain all the sweet goodness. These were as easy as 1,2,3 with the help of my Silhouette. I used the adorable_box_14_C00479_20509 template as a guide, ran the cardstock through the Silhouette, folded on the pre-marked scoring lines and glued - The precut holes at the top were perfect to thread some sheer ribbon through to pull Continue reading

Last Minute Gift Idea – How to Fold a Money Bracelet {Turn Dollar Bills into a Work of Art}

Last Minute Gift Idea – How to Fold a Money Bracelet {Turn Dollar Bills into a Work of Art}

With the holidays just a few days away, I wanted to share a cute way to make giving plain simple cash a little more fashionable and fun. I have two nieces that consider themselves 'tweens' and now-a-days cash is pretty much the most awesome {in their words} gift they can receive. I am really not big on sticking a few bills in an envelope however with a little folding those plain old bills can be turned into a neat piece of art. Begin by folding and creasing a single bill in half, horizontally. You will need a total of sixteen bills all Continue reading

DIY Faux Curled Rosewood Wreath {Made From Rolled Recycled Book Pages}

DIY Faux Curled Rosewood Wreath {Made From Rolled Recycled Book Pages}

I have seen various versions of Faux Rosewood Wreaths in just about every store and catalog for the upcoming season; most with a price tag running upwards of $40 or more. Some are crafted of paper and other of real wood shavings. Last year I made a few rolled flower gift toppers from recycled book pages and they remind me so much of the curled wood roses I thought they would make a good substitute. {with a much lower price tag}Materials Needed:Foam Wreath Form Recycled Book Pages Lots of Hot Glue Ribbon to Hang The full step by step Continue reading

Outdoor Adventure Birthday Invitations {camping, hiking and Jeep trail riding}

Outdoor Adventure Birthday Invitations {camping, hiking and Jeep trail riding}

Being the huge outdoor enthusiasts that we are, it wasn't hard to put together this years theme for my little guys fourth birthday celebration. It encompassed some of the fun special things we love to do together as a family like camping, hiking, and especially Jeep trail riding. For the actual invitation I went with something a little different and designed our own event tickets. The front of the ticket was modeled after a vintage state fair poster with added fun clip art surrounding the theme. The back of the ticket included our actual Continue reading
