Textured Wall Art | sensory tactile wall panel

Textured Wall Art - sensory tactile wall panel | We have been spending quite a bit of time in CJ's indoor playroom these past couple of months as the frigid weather has kept us indoors a little bit more than usual for this time of year. While the room is pretty much complete there are a few items on the list that I would still like to incorporate. I've been pretty selective about the wall art for this particular space - mainly for safety reasons. A lot of craziness goes on in this room at times. There have been some sensory wall panels Continue reading

Stenciled IKEA Memo Board | Magnetic PECS Schedule – Communication Board

Stenciled IKEA Memo Board | Magnetic PECS Schedule – Communication Board

According to all of our house guests, under the age of ten, CJ's indoor sensory playroom would be voted the coolest room in our home - hands down. Though while it appears to many as little slice of childhood heaven - to us it plays a bigger, more important, role in many areas of development for our little guy. As with many of our other activities, a schedule or communication board is the key to keep our little guy engaged and on track.  I have shared a bit about the PECS communication system CJ uses in the past - like when we made the end Continue reading

No Sew Hanging Pennant Banner | Playroom Felt Bunting

No Sew Hanging Pennant Banner | Playroom Felt Bunting

I can honestly say I don't think I have done this many consecutive posts that contain so much color. If there ever was a lack of bright colorful hues around here - I sure am making up for it in CJ's sensory playroom. The white walls in this space work perfectly with the radiant furnishings, however, once everything was in place the ceiling was looking a little bland. I figured the easiest way to add a touch of color was a hanging pennant banner - plus they just scream playful fun, right? I have made a few hanging banners in the past Continue reading

DIY Indoor Playroom Climbing Ladder

DIY Indoor Playroom Climbing Ladder

Yesterday I shared the indoor rock climbing wall we put together for CJ's sensory playroom. While the wall has been used tremendously since it was originally installed, it wasn't until a couple weeks ago that we had the idea to add-on an access ladder. We decided on a partial climbing wall mainly to address CJ's therapy needs.  As our little guy has become stronger and a bit more confident, random objects have suddenly started to appear in front of the wall  - used as stepping stools to get to the holds when we are not directly working on Continue reading

Kids Indoor Rock Climbing Wall | How we put together our playroom hang boards

Kids Indoor Rock Climbing Wall | How we put together our playroom hang boards

I'm back to share more sensory playroom details. I am hoping these posts will help answer, in depth, the questions I have received from the few pictures I have previously shared. If turning one of your rooms into a playroom is nowhere on your list of things to do - I will be back to some house stuff once this room is complete ;) Today we are highlighting the climbing wall we put together for CJ. This particular climbing wall was put together with specific therapeutic needs in mind, however, any kiddies that have entered the room have had a Continue reading

Kid Friendly Wall Art for an Indoor Sensory Playroom

Since it is already the middle of february, I am thinking it's about time we actually start working on that project list I posted a month ago. I decided to start off easy and tackle the one project that needed the least amount of work. I know, right? I hardly ever make yearly project plans - for obvious reasons - so the thought of being able to cross something completely off the list this early in the game is a step in the right direction. Shortly after we moved in we converted one of the extra bedrooms in the house into an indoor sensory Continue reading

XL Vinyl for the Sensory Playroom {by Accent Studios}

XL Vinyl for the Sensory Playroom {by Accent Studios}

It seems like I have been working on this sensory playroom for my little guy for quite some time as the last update I gave was when the furniture and equipment arrived last September. The truth is there are a lot of little odds and ends still on the to-do that have been put aside. I did recently check one of those off though with this huge vinyl monogram from Accent Studios. When I painted and stenciled the room I did a white on white design as I knew the furniture was bursting with lots of color. Once we had things in place the large focal Continue reading

Indoor Sensory Playroom Update {Flooring & Furniture}

Indoor Sensory Playroom Update {Flooring & Furniture}

I am finally making some progress on the Indoor Sensory Playroom for my little guy. I was not in a big rush to move forward once I found out the furniture and equipment we ordered was coming from France {?} and need to be manufactured. Much to my surprise I received a shipping confirmation a few weeks later stating part of the order was on its way; which resulted in the room being bumped up on the to-do list and flooring was the first priority. Here is a poor before shot of the room we are using. It has since been painted and stenciled Continue reading

Funky Wheel Stenciled Wall {The Start of a New Room}

Funky Wheel Stenciled Wall {The Start of a New Room}

I've pretty much hit a decorating plateau in my little guys bath as I am waiting on some supplies to arrive before I can finish. I thought it would be a perfect time to get a jump start on the next room on my list; another playroom for my little guy. Unlike the playroom I recently finished in March, this room will be more of an indoor sensory playground. I am so excited to start on this project and can hardly wait to see everything come together! Plus I get to share all the details each step of the way this time around!So I bring you phase one Continue reading
